We are a private pay practice and do not work directly with insurance. This decision allows us to prioritize your child’s privacy, customize care without restrictions, and avoid the requirement of a formal mental health diagnosis just to get coverage.
Most insurance plans do not cover psychoeducational testing, and when they do, they typically only reimburse a small portion. Counseling coverage varies by plan—and often comes with limitations that don’t match the personalized support we provide.
If you'd like to seek reimbursement for therapy services, we're happy to provide a superbill (an itemized receipt you can submit to your insurance). Please note: reimbursement is not guaranteed, and the process must be managed on your end.
Yes! While we’re a private pay practice, we believe in flexibility and access. Payment plans are available for most services, including evaluations. We offer no-interest, customizable schedules to make care more accessible—just ask during your consult and we’ll walk you through your options.
If your child is struggling with learning, focus, behavior, or school-related stress—and you're not sure why—a psychoeducational evaluation can help uncover the root cause.
We often hear from parents who feel helpless watching their child fall behind, despite their best efforts. Whether it’s poor grades, low self-esteem, or daily homework battles, testing offers real insight into how your child learns, thinks, and processes information.
It’s not just about finding what’s “wrong”—it’s about understanding your child more clearly and getting the right support in place.

Each comprehensive evaluation includes:
We customize every evaluation to your child’s unique needs—whether you're exploring ADHD, learning differences, giftedness, or emotional concerns. Our goal is to provide clarity, answers, and a clear plan forward.
Yes—we specialize in evaluations for children, teens, and young adults, including college students seeking academic accommodations for ADHD, learning differences, and more.
If you’re not sure whether an evaluation is the right next step for you or your child, we’re happy to talk it through.
School-based evaluations focus on determining eligibility for special education services—which often means they’re limited in scope and follow strict district criteria.
At Maitland Mental Health Co., our private evaluations are more comprehensive, flexible, and individualized. We explore your child’s cognitive, academic, emotional, and behavioral functioning—and provide detailed, actionable recommendations tailored to their unique profile.
Best of all, our evaluations can often be used to support IEP or 504 eligibility, even if conducted outside the school system. We’re happy to guide you through how to share the results with your school team.
Yes—our evaluations are often used to support school-based services like IEPs or 504 plans. While we can’t guarantee ESE placement (those decisions are made by the school team), our reports are thorough, easy to understand, and designed to help schools and pediatricians make informed decisions.
We’re also happy to collaborate with your child’s school or doctor when needed—and if you want added support navigating meetings or next steps, we offer educational consulting to walk with you through the process.
Yes! I’m a licensed school psychologist—trained to understand how kids learn, behave, and thrive, both academically and emotionally. At MMHC, I provide both psychoeducational evaluations and therapy. Some families come for testing, others for ongoing counseling, and many for a blend of both.
Whether your child is struggling with school, anxiety, or you’re just trying to figure out what kind of support they need—I’m here to help you navigate it all, with clarity, care, and no judgment.
Absolutely. As a licensed school psychologist with over a decade of experience in Florida public schools, I know the systems inside and out. I regularly help parents prepare for (and, when appropriate, attend) IEP, 504, or student support meetings—virtually or in person—to ensure your voice is heard and your child’s needs are met.
To ensure accurate, standardized results, we don’t recommend parents sit in during testing sessions. Your presence can unintentionally influence your child’s performance—even if you’re just quietly observing.
You’re more than welcome to stay in our waiting area while testing is underway, or we can call you when your child is finished. We’ll keep you in the loop every step of the way.
Our average turnaround time is 2–4 weeks from the date of your child’s testing session to your feedback appointment. This includes time to score assessments, gather outside input (like teacher forms), and write your child’s comprehensive report.
During busy seasons (especially spring and fall), turnaround may take slightly longer—but we’ll always keep you updated along the way. If you’re working under a specific deadline, just let us know—we offer a limited rush report option (within 7 business days) for an additional fee.
The number of sessions depends on your goals, your child’s needs, and the type of support you're looking for. Some clients benefit from short-term, solution-focused work, while others prefer ongoing support.
We’ll talk about frequency and goals during your intake session, but we generally recommend starting with weekly sessions for the first month to build momentum—then adjusting as needed.
Sessions are typically 50 minutes, though session length may vary slightly based on your child’s age and attention span.
Yes! We offer virtual therapy (when appropriate), email-based parent coaching (available anywhere), and virtual consulting for Florida families who need expert school support.
We’ll help decide what format fits best—because Zoom isn’t always ideal for little ones with short attention spans, and sometimes in-person wins.
Note: Due to licensing, some services may be limited to Florida residents.
We ask for at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule appointments for therapy, educational consulting, or academic tutoring.
Late cancellations or no-shows may be charged the full session fee. We totally understand that life happens—which is why we offer one grace period per client. After that, we do stick to our policy.
Because evaluations involve extensive prep, testing materials, and reserved time, we ask for at least 48 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule.
Late cancellations or no-shows may result in a fee of up to 50% of the evaluation cost.
